Press box at Brien McMahon renamed in honor of George Albano

NORWALK, May 28 – George Albano, the long-time Norwalk Hour editor and writer, was honored by Brien McMahon High School when the school dedicated the press box at Jack Casagrande Field in honor of Albano.

“I’m honored. I’m humbled. I’m overwhelmed. This feeling is surreal,” Albano told Rich DePreta of the Stamford Advocate. “This Brien McMahon High School press box has always been my best friend.”

Albano, who served three years as president of the Connecticut Sports Writers’ Alliance from 2011-14 and has been an active member of the Alliance for years, spent 37 years at The Norwalk Hour. Albano was voted into the FCIAC Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Brien McMahon High School Hall of Fame in 2013.
