Joan Joyce honored in Waterbury
WATERBURY, Aug. 15, 2015 -- Waterbury honored native daughter Joan Joyce, 75, the legendary softball and professional golfer by naming the softball field at Municipal Stadium in her honor. The Connecticut Sports Writers Alliance honored her with a Gold Key in 1974. She was a Hall of Fame pitcher with the Brakettes, she helped the Connecticut Falcons win four world titles with the International Women’s Professional Softball League in the 1970s and she later played on the LPGA Tour. She is currently the head softball coach at Florida Atlantic University. Check out the coverage from the Republican American.
