The Connecticut chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) held its annual 2014 awards banquet on Thursday night. Below are the winners in sports, including the Alliance's own Ken Lipshez of the Record Journal in Meriden and Gerry deSimas of the Collinsville Press, who each took home two awards, including a first place award in the sports news category. Jimmy Zanor of the Middletown Press was recognized with two awards. Congratulations on your award-winning pieces.
